The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger About Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
